Self-doubt

Whenever self-doubt presents itself inside my head, I do a little shake to get it to settle to a place where I can retrieve it and dispose of it. How do I dispose of it? Reminding myself of things I have accomplished in my life thus far by hard work and determination. Thinking about the generous and thoughtful people in my life that enjoy my company and value my opinion. Taking time to list the things that I am grateful for and being thankful for the opportunities that I have had and that I am presented with each day.

Summer Vacation

Do you ever wonder what it would be like, as an adult, to have a summer vacation? To sleep late, relishing in the comfort of your bed with no responsibilities on the horizon. The only decisions you have to make are deciding what to do on that particular day. Ahh, to be blessed with an entire summer of this would be heaven right? Well, this happened to me after I parted ways with a particularly unpleasant employer two weeks ago. Not wanting to get involved in another venture right away, I enjoyed the pleasant nights of sleep, the long days of nothingness aside from yoga, naps and coffee (not particularly in that order). I spent the time I had reading some books I had been wanting to, trying some new recipes I have been saving and just enjoying my home. All too often we work so hard and so seriously that we don’t tend to see the beauty or feel the relaxation in the sanctuary that we call home. When we do take time off from our busy careers, we tend to go somewhere else away from our home on vacations to relax and rejuvenate. While I believe that vacations are not only essential for our well-being and to help us explore the world, I also believe that we need to take a good hard look at the sanctuary we have right in front of us. Nothing like a couple of weeks off with nothing to do to find the beauty in my surroundings and make me realize that my oasis is wherever I am. With the right attitude, you can enjoy a summer vacation anytime…and anywhere. Home sweet home!
